Environmental records of all kinds are being shattered as climate change takes effect in real time...

Greenhouse gases highest on record.
Global surface temperature highest on record.
Sea surface temperatures highest on record.
Global upper ocean heat content highest on record.
Global sea level highest on record.
Extremes were observed in the water cycle and precipitation.

Scorching Global Temps Astound Climate Scientists
As wildfire rages in California, flooding affects millions in India and China, and eggs are fried on sidewalks in Iraq, global climate catastrophe is surpassing predictions...

"What concerns me most is that we didn't anticipate these temperature jumps," David Carlson, director of the World Meteorological Organization's (WMO) climate research program, told Thompson Reuters Foundation late Monday. "We predicted moderate warmth for 2016, but nothing like the temperature rises we've seen."
